''A Comparative Grammar of the Dravidian or South-Indian family of languages'' is a book on comparative linguistics written by Robert Caldwell, the Bishop of Tirunelveli. First published in 1856, the book is considered to be a breakthrough in Dravidian studies. It is the first-ever detailed work to examine the similarities between the Dravidian languages. Highly acclaimed, the book is still regarded as the best reference work on Dravidian philology.
